What’s in My Gym Bag

Here’s a realistic “What’s in my gym bag”

As an avid gym goer I wanted to share my absolute gym must haves and gym essentials. If you are new to the gym here are some items you might want to purchase to get you started on your fitness journey.

First I'll start by saying I like having a cute gym bag. My current gym bag is from amazon. It’s great quality and is very spacious with lots of pockets, which I like. It also doubles up as a travel bag if needed. I’ve tried other bags from amazon that have snapped or ripped on me but this one is still going strong!

Inside my gym bag I have all sorts of equipment. First are my warm up bands. I have short bands that I use to warm up on leg days. They come in sets of 3 with different strength levels. On my leg days I’ll usually do squat pulses and lateral side walks with the band around my legs for muscle activation. It’s really great for glute activation which is essential for any leg day. I also carry longer bands that I typically use on my upper body days. I’ll either use it to warm up like shoulder press or for assisted pull ups, but there are many other uses to having these bands.

Next, I have a lifting belt. This is essential to help prevent any back injury, especially if you are doing heavy weightlifting. My favorite belt is from Uppper. Their belts are great quality and super cheap. It is a pseudo leather but in my opinion they’re a great alternative to typical lifting belts and much more affordable.

I also always carry barbell clips in my bag. This is to keep weights from sliding off when lifting heavy. It also helps make sure you maintain stability and evenly activate muscles on each side of your body without worrying about the weights moving.

Next, I have a barbell pad and ankle straps. Both of these are strictly for glute days. Barbell pads are used for hip thrusts and ankle straps are used for kickbacks on a cable machine. Both of these exercises are essential for glute growth and you won’t regret it! Some gyms have these accessories available to you but at my gym they are always hard to find, so I rather just carry my own. That way I waste less time searching for them and can focus on my workout.

I always have to carry a thermo flask because you get thirsty. It’s also helpful in making sure you get your necessary water intake for the day. There are super cute and affordable flasks you can find on amazon.

I love listening to music while at the gym so I always have my airpods, but if you click here you can find super cute and affordable wireless headphones with great ratings.

Lastly, I always carry extra hair ties and lip balm. Can’t say how many times a hair tie snapped on me mid workout and I needed an extra one! I also do not like having dry lips so it’s nice to have a lip balm specifically for my gym bag. I’ve also noticed I won't lose my lip balms nearly as much because I'm not constantly switching it from bag to bag.

These are all the things I carry in my gym bag! Of course, if you are someone who gets ready at the gym before work you may need a little extra equipment and if you are new to the gym you may start off with less.

These are affiliate links, but none of it is at an extra cost to you and I would receive a small commission so it is a win-win.
