How To Grow Your Hair

I’ve been super excited to talk about how to grow your hair. Before I get started, this is a disclaimer because I am not sure of its effects for people who are balding due to genetics. The tips I am about to share may help slow down that process or even regrow some hair, but might not be the solution.

These tips are for anyone who suffered from hair loss due to controllable factors. For example, I personally noticed my hair started thinning in college due to immense stress and lack of nutrition. While stress may not seem controllable for some, I’m sure there are changes I could have made during that time to prevent it. Nonetheless I graduated, woohoo! I digress. I also would skip a lot of meals in college and when I would finally eat it was mostly junk. Nutrition is one of the leading causes of hair loss. You need a balanced diet with whole foods to grow beautiful healthy hair. There are many other factors that can contribute to hair loss like how clean the water in your city is or the hair products you are using. I also know a lot of women who just had a baby tend to lose their hair due to all the hormone changes.

Whatever the case may be, these are steps you can take to regrow your hair so it is as full and beautiful as before, if not more.

1) First and foremost, eat a balanced diet. This should be coming from nutritional whole foods which include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, and healthy fats. The more raw, fresh, and organic the fruits and veggies are the more likely your body is to be receiving and absorbing the nutrients it needs.

2) Reduce stress. I know this is easier said than done for some of you, but I’m sure there are a few preventative measures you can take to prevent any future stress. In other words, be prepared, whether you are a college student organizing class schedules and homework or a hard working mom prepping meals and activities.

Now let’s talk about products…

3) Buy a shower filter. There are many reputable shower filters you can find online. Currently I use AquaBliss. Shower filters help remove any toxins, heavy metals, and pollutants in your water. As a result, it has reduced dandruff, itchiness, leaves my scalp less oily, and softened my skin. Getting rid of dandruff ensures nothing is blocking new hair growth.

4) Use safe shampoos/conditioners. So many hair products claim to be safe from parabens, phthalates and sulfates, yet contain many other harmful ingredients for your scalp. Currently my favorite hair products are from Shea Moisture. This is an exceptional brand and many of their products are safe from chemicals banned in other countries. (Check my previous blog post for other safe hair shampoo and conditioner brands)

5) Buy hair oil. My favorite is currently from Lia Organics. This can be applied 1-4 hours before you shower on your hair wash day and should be massaged in. You can do this 1-2 times a week and still see results. If you do this consistently you should notice new hair growth after a couple of months

6) Use a Dermastamp. On your hair wash day you should use a dermastamp, also known as microneedling your scalp. Dermastamping should be done on damp hair. This helps stimulate any dormant hair follicles to boost hair growth and make sure your scalp absorbs the right hair products. New hair growth may be noticeable even after a couple weeks.

These are steps taken to increase hair growth so your hair can be healthy and full. Keep in mind you will have to remain consistent for a couple of months to notice changes. This is true for most hair growth tricks. There is no overnight solution. Nonetheless the results are promising and I can say my scalp and hair feels better than ever.
